Questions

Frequently asked questions

The things people ask before they book. If yours is not here, call or message us — it is usually a two-minute conversation.

Booking

How do I book a vehicle?

Send us an enquiry through the site, call, or message us on WhatsApp with your dates and what the trip involves. We come back with a specific vehicle, a price and the terms in writing. Once you accept, the vehicle is held for your dates.

How far in advance should I book?

The earlier the better, particularly for 4x4s in the dry season and for executive vehicles during the June-to-September wedding and conference season. Short-notice bookings are often possible — ask, because it costs nothing to find out.

Why are rates not published on the site?

Because the honest price depends on how long you need the vehicle, how far it is going and whether you want a driver. A published daily rate would be wrong for most of those cases. We quote per booking, and a month-long hire costs far less per day than a weekend.

Can I extend the hire once it has started?

Usually yes, subject to whether the vehicle is booked after you. Tell us as soon as you know rather than on the return date, and we will either extend it or arrange an alternative.

Do you take corporate accounts?

We do. We are a registered Zambian company with a TPIN and can invoice monthly, against a purchase order where you need one. See our corporate and fleet hire page.

Driving and documents

What licence do I need?

A valid driving licence for the class of vehicle. Foreign and international licences are generally acceptable — send us a photograph when you enquire and we will confirm yours before you travel rather than at the handover.

Is there a minimum driver age?

Yes, and it is stated in your quote and the rental agreement along with how long the licence must have been held.

Can somebody else drive the vehicle?

Yes, provided they are named on the agreement and their licence is on file before the hire starts. Additional drivers are easy to add at booking and awkward to add afterwards.

Do you offer self-drive to visitors?

We do, and it is a common arrangement — we hand the vehicle over at the airport on arrival and collect it on departure. If you would rather not drive in an unfamiliar city, a driver is available on any vehicle in the fleet.

The vehicle

Which vehicle should I choose?

Tell us the trip and we will say. As a rule: a sedan for city driving and value, a Fortuner for a family or a park trip, a double cab for gravel, cargo or fieldwork, and the GL-Class when the arrival matters.

Are your vehicles automatic or manual?

Both exist in the fleet, and it varies by unit — which is why we confirm the specific vehicle with your quote rather than promise a specification on the website. If you need an automatic, say so when you enquire and we will match one.

Can I take a vehicle into a national park?

With the right vehicle, yes — a 4x4 with proper ground clearance. The sedans are not suitable for park roads, particularly in the rainy season. Tell us where you are going and we will match the vehicle to the road rather than to the price.

What happens if the vehicle breaks down?

Call the support number we give you at handover. Roadside assistance is part of the service, and for corporate hires arranging a replacement vehicle is our job, not yours.

Do you have vans or minibuses?

Yes — two Toyota Hiace minibuses, which are our usual answer for conference shuttles, field teams, wedding guests and group airport transfers. Seating differs between the two units, so tell us the group size and we will confirm which one fits. Beyond those, additional sedans and 4x4s can be sourced on request.

Can we hire more than one vehicle at a time?

Yes, and it is a common request for projects, conferences and delegations. Multi-vehicle bookings are coordinated as one job with a single point of contact rather than a separate conversation per vehicle. Give us as much notice as you can for larger numbers.

Money and terms

Is a deposit required?

Yes — a refundable security deposit is held for the duration of the hire and released after the return inspection. The amount is stated in your quote.

Is insurance included?

Insurance is arranged as part of the rental. What the cover includes and the excess you carry in the event of a claim are set out in writing with your quote.

How does fuel work?

Fuel is not included in the rate. The level the vehicle leaves with and the level it should return with are stated in your quote.

Is there a mileage limit?

It depends on the vehicle and the length of hire. Whether your hire is unlimited or carries a daily allowance — and the rate beyond it — is confirmed with your quote.

What about traffic fines?

Fines, tolls and parking charges incurred during the hire are the driver's responsibility.

Airport and cross-border

Where exactly are you based?

Hangar 6A, Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Lusaka. Being on the airport grounds is why we can meet arrivals without a vehicle having to come out from town first.

What if my flight is delayed?

Send us your flight number when you book and we track it. Delays and long immigration queues are ours to absorb — your driver waits in arrivals with a name board either way.

Can I take a hire vehicle out of Zambia?

Yes, with prior approval. Cross-border trips need a written authorisation letter from us plus vehicle documents, and border officials do check. Give us a week or more of notice; approval depends on the vehicle and the destination.

Do you do transfers to other towns?

We do — Livingstone, the Copperbelt, Chipata, Kafue and elsewhere by road, quoted per trip.
